I started my writing career as a news and sport journalist. I worked in radio, print and TV, eventually becoming the first woman to host a live national sport show on Australian television (feels like a long time ago!). I ran my own business for a while, had two children, worked school canteen and did the part-time everything job deciding that if I didn't sit down and write the book I'd always wanted to write, I'd be on my death bed still wishing I'd done it.
Now, when I’m not writing romantic comedies, I’m penning gritty thrillers as internationally published crime author Jaye Ford.
Yep, crime and rom-com is a weird combination and I feel like I’ve got split personalities at times but, hey, sometimes a girl needs to give her dark, gritty self a break and be light and funny for a while! And I feel so lucky that Penguin Random House gives me the opportunity to decide whether to make readers laugh or scare the pants off them.
